ADMISSION STEPS

Discover Play School is committed to educating and informing parents about our school and Montessori education. We have adapted our admissions process to include virtual and in-person options for parents to learn more. Each step in the admissions process is outlined below.

STEP 1 — SCHOOL TOUR

Touring Discover Play School's  is the first step in the admissions process. All parents are encouraged to tour the school Campus during the admissions process regardless of your child's age.

We invite you to tour our campus virtually.

Consider scheduling a personal tour of our outdoor environments to learn how our campus is designed specifically for the developmental needs of your child. In-person tours are for adults only and must be scheduled in advance. Individual tours typically last about 30 minutes.

STEP 2 — ADMISSIONS MEETING

After viewing our campuses online, please complete an inquiry form to request an admissions meeting.

Parents will speak with the Director of Admissions. This is an opportunity to converse about your child and family; Montessori education; the programs offered at Discover Play School and enrollment possibilities. It will help both parties determine if Discover Play School is a school in which your child will thrive. The Montessori school environment is greatly different from traditional schools. Parents are invited to review these resources before the meeting. The Director of Admissions is happy to answer questions that may have come up during your research on Montessori education.

STEP 3 — SUBMIT APPLICATION

Discover Play School accepts student applications for:

  • Children ages 2+ years through 5 years

Deadlines for applying for the 2021-2022 school year:
November 2020 onwards

After the admissions meeting, an application may be submitted with a Rs.100.00 non-refundable fee. Applications must be received within 15 days of the first meeting for, consideration.

STEP 4 — CONVERSATION AND CLASSROOM VIEW

Discover Play School invites you to see inside a classroom virtually. We ask at least one parent register for a Conversation and Classroom View with the Director of Admissions and the Head of School. See what makes a  Montessori environment unique. You will gain a deeper understanding of what your child will experience as a student at our school.

There is no replacement for an in-person classroom observation. When it is safe for visitors to be in a classroom, the Director of Admissions will invite you to schedule an in-person observation.

STEP 5 — CHILD INTERVIEW/VISIT

A child interview/visit will be scheduled once an appropriate open spot is identified.

Ages two - five  — Your child will visit a classroom garden for about 20-30 minutes. During the visit the teacher will interact with your child by showing him/her around the garden; teaching a few lessons and carefully observing your child. The teacher is looking for signs that your child is developmentally ready to learn. Does your child separate easily from you? ...follow simple directions? ...express needs and feelings easily? ...Possess the self-control to wait his/her turn?

STEP 6 — PARENT/TEACHER MEETING

The guides (teachers) will share with you the current curriculum and details of the classroom after the student visits a classroom. The focus of their questions will be about your child’s personality and specific academic achievements if applicable. The information shared will assist our teachers in making the best classroom placement for your child.
